Do you spend hours trying on make up and skin creams at the beauty counter? Do you flip straight to the “product review” pages in fashion magazines? Do you obsess over the right colour of nail polish at the manicurist? Then you’ve come to the right blog.

This blog is your blog, and it is meant to be a place for us to compare notes and swap tips on our favourite products, spa treatments and shops.

I’m living in Hong Kong and will feature spas and products available here – but not exclusively!

If you want to send press releases or product samples, please email me directly at aitkenmail@yahoo.com.

    hi

do you have the number of the Beauty Gallery (7th floor Oriental Commercial Bldg on Lyndhurst Terrace Central (across from the HSBC)? I am trying to find a salon that sells Yonka products in Hong Kong. I found your link via google. If you do have the number it would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks

Ah wonderful. another Yonka fan! yes of course! happy to be of help. Be sure to check out the deals on the Yonka facials while you are there. Much cheaper than at The Firm.

    Hi,
I’ve just moved to Hong Kong and am looking for a good place to go for facials (my skin is not reacting well to the HK climate!) any recommendations gratefully received.
    Thanks,
    Sarah

    hi Sarah
if your skin is clogging up with the humidity in hong kong, I recommend that you use a product like Yonka’s Gommage (see post on this topic) every couple of days to keep pores happy. For facials you can go two ways: deluxe or basic. Deluxe basically means the spa is very fancy, basic means no frills. However I have found that there are good places in both categories, it just depends on whether your priority is the ‘facial itself’ or the whole ‘treating yourself’ experience.
For high end, i’d recommend Elemis Day Spa in Century Square, Lan Kwai Fong. [on D'Aguilar Street, just up from Queen's Road Central - same building as the Nike Store and Page One bookstore]
For ‘Basic’, I’d recommend Beauty Gallery on Lyndhurst Terrace. They do Yonka facials here (you can buy the products here too). This is really a basic environment – no frills. But the room is clean & comfortable, the facials are great value for money, and particularly good if you want a place that you can go regularly for a good price.
Somewhere in between high end and basic, is A Sense of Touch, which has 3 locations: on Arbuthnot Road, Central (under Cafe O) at Hollywood Road (a bit on the old side here, nicer at Arbuthnot Rd) and Discovery Bay. They do Murad and Dermalogica Facials as well as a lot of other types. they also offer monthly specials. so worth checking their website: http://www.senseoftouch.com.hk (ask for Sonom or Ruby).
Good luck and welcome to Hong Kong!
